The MOD's (Ministry Of Defence) Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELC) is to promote long term learning amongst it's members of the Armed Forces. They provide financial assistance in the form of a single up-front payment in each of a maximum of three separate financial years. Our directory has been designed to help you find educational institutions and private companies throughout the U.K. that can assist is the training qualifications you are looking to take.
"We are not affiliated with ELCAS but have designed this directory to help the Armed Forces to discover educational opportunities in any region of their choice within the UK".
We hold no liability in the accuracy of the listings and would advise our users to contact the desired company to find out more about the educational courses they offer and also the costings.
Invoices from ELC learning providers may only be presented to ELCAS for payment on or after the course start date. Invoices for PF FE HE claims may only be presented 6 weeks after the course start date.
Retrospective ELC claims are not permitted. Claim forms must be received by ELCAS at least 15 clear working days prior to the course start date.
Before making a second or third claim you must complete your claim Evaluation return via this website and supply proof of completion to your Education Staff for all previous learning activities.
It is important that you do not set up a loan/credit agreement for the full amount under any circumstances.
You are advised not to pay any money to the Provider or book the course before you receive your Claim Authorisation Note. This also applies to potential new providers awaiting "approved" status to join the ELCAS list. Any money paid to learning providers (eg. a deposit to secure a place) is paid purely at the personal risk of the individual.
You must make a personal contribution of at least 20% towards the total course cost.
Just because an organisation is listed as an Approved Provider it does not mean that all of their courses are of the required level.
You are reminded that ELC funding is only available for pursuit of higher level learning i.e. for courses that result in a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (England and Wales), a Level 6 or above on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or, if pursued overseas, an approved international equivalent qualification.
